Gunbuster, known in Japan as Aim for the Top! (トップをねらえ!), is an OVA produced by Gainax released from 1988 to 1989. It was the directorial debut of Hideaki Anno, best known as the creator and director of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Diebuster, also known as Aim for the Top 2! (トップをねらえ 2!) and Gunbuster 2, is an OVA created to commemorate the studio's 20th anniversary in 2004, and it is a sequel to their 1988 OVA Gunbuster.
