AITA for not standing up for my wife?

It sounds to me like she just really wants to be a victim in this situation. You can't win.

You’re right. I told her it’s not about her and no one is against her. She’s saying I never take her side, and if I don’t take her side on this, I’ll never stand up for her against my family. I absolutely WOULD stand up for her, but my family is incredible. They are always so inclusive of her, and when we host (for example) they tell her how incredible of a host she is, how her cooking is incredible, etc (which is so true!). They have 0 bad blood against her, my family is pretty close, and they show her a ton of respect. And have welcomed her into the family. I don’t have a large family either, it’s very small. So we don’t see them often other than for birthdays, holidays, and the occasional lunch or dinner with my parents.

She is hung up on the fact that she is the 9th not automatically in the top 8. She said of course it was her and not me. She said I would feel differently about this if I was the 9th selected.
