Falling asleep everyday - help me think this through
Had a blood panel run at 7 months postpartum following my 3rd baby (5 months ago). The only marker out of range was cholesterol and it was only slightly elevated. Thyroid was normal, ferritin was slightly low though very close to the normal range. My PCP ordered another panel to confirm my body was returning to normal iron levels after breastfeeding. I weaned 4 months ago, period returned 3 months ago.
I am falling asleep every afternoon, usually after I eat a meal. I’m not talking getting a little sleepy or having a food coma, I am full on passing out on the couch unable to stay awake within 30 min of eating. The meals could be small or large, healthy or unhealthy. I initially thought the sleep thing was hormonal, but with it happening after food, I’m wondering if it’s metabolic? I have a message in to my PCP to have him order bloodwork that could tell me anything I need to know about thyroid, metabolic, and hormonal activity/levels. What else am I missing? What could this be?
I’m slightly overweight and sedentary after my 3rd kid, am 37 years old, and am 3 months into Nuvaring usage for birth control. This level of fatigue is impacting my daily life and I really want to figure out what is causing this. Any ideas? What else should I be considering?
