Just got my MegaGrant response

I was not selected for a MegaGrant, but wanted to share that the response took about a 14 months to get, if anyone is wondering what to expect in regard to a timeline, since it’s not entirely clear.

MegaGrants seems like an awesome program and I’ll be trying again in the future!

I’m a solo dev

I asked for 30k - 40k and detailed how the funds would be used. I also specified that I did not view the request as all or nothing, and that I’d be proud to just have MegaGrants attached to the project in any capacity.

My own guess as to why it was not selected is that the project was still in very early days of development with a lot to prove still (I’m still neck deep in dev to this day), and that it is not a project that really benefits the community outside of the potential to inspire.

One of the more unique points I thought my application had is that I learned unreal through their own education portal, and that I develop on Mac, which seems unusual and an example of the versatility of the engine.

I also just saw today that they have restructured submissions to not be open year round, with the intention of more frequent updates.
