Is Medic an "overplayed" class?

I started playing Team Fortress 2 today and want to main Medic. I like playing him more than any other character, but I wouldn't want to choose him if he already has tons of people playing him since too many Medics in one game seems like it'd be annoying for other players. So... Is he overplayed?
