Help me decide between a gen 5 and gen 6

My old Chevy Cruze took its final shit and I’m ready to upgrade to something newer. My family (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs) already has an Outback as our family car and we’ve been very happy with it. Got it at about 3 years old with 40k miles and have put about 70k miles on it with little issues. The Cruze has been my daily commuter and I’m drawn to the Impreza as a replacement because of its similarities with the Outback, but is smaller, more affordable, AWD, and better gas mileage. Further, I will primarily be driving it alone. I will use it for the kids sometimes, but I’m not trying to replace my Outback.

Here is where I’m stuck.. $25k is the absolute top of my budget. I could get a brand new Impreza base at the top of my budget or I could get like a 2022 with 20k miles and all the features for about $20k. We were in a similar situation when we got our Outback and opted for the slightly older one for price and features.

My biggest focus as a consumer is reliability. I do routine maintenance and what not, but I do not want a car I have to tinker with and work on regularly.

My initial lean is towards one a couple of years old because I would like the sunroof, better wheels, and I like the style/setup of the gen 5 better. It’s also going to be slightly more affordable. However, I also see the value of having a brand new car with a full warranty even if it lacks in features.

What do you all think? Thanks in advance.
