Vent post on Sri Lanka's inability to accept Stripe/Paypal/whatever

I work for a US-based startup and also run a blog about startup validation. Right now, my blog traffic is split between the US and India.

I’m planning to launch ebooks and SaaS products as a side hustle, but Sri Lanka’s outdated regulations are a huge headache.

To make this work, I’d need to incorporate in the US or elsewhere, which means I could end up paying taxes in a country I’m not even a resident of.

It’s frustrating, especially when I see creators in the US and India thriving without these superficial roadblocks that's been set up to hold us back.

We've so much potential and talent here that in some ways surpasses other countries. And there's an elephant sized financial upside to not even want to leave the country and thrive at home where your family and friends are.

I know that AKD has this in his mandate but I don't trust them to get this done in a timely manner when there's more pressing issues. Other governments have failed in the past. So it's likely we won't get this done.

There are people who've already incorporated elsewhere and the gov doesn't even realize the upside in foreign income. I'm probably going to have to do this too but I really wish I didn't have to.
