Stihl hedge trimmer trouble starting and leak

Bought this on FB marketplace. They started it first pull for me when I picked up. Took it home and had a lot of trouble starting it. I’ve only got it fired up a couple times.

When I start to pull the cord, it will leak underneath by the muffler where I circled in the pictures. Why would there be a leak there?

I’ve changed the purge bulb, fuel filter, and air filter. I’m going to clean or replace carb next and hopefully then I can reliably start it up, but need to fix the source of this leak.

Also I was looking for the spark arrestor to see if that needs cleaning but couldn’t find it. Any ideas?
