Now that we’ve had a disappointing end to a disappointing season, let’s zoom out a bit to appreciate just how good of an organization the Ravens are.

Yeah,

The 2020 and 2021 seasons have been bummers. A lot of fans get down and out (myself included).

Regardless of how the Lamar situation plays out, the Ravens will be fine though. Here’s some perspective on just how good of an organization the Ravens have been since the year 2000. (I chose 2000 because that’s about the time the Ravens really found their footing as an organization)

There are 3 teams that have been consistently as successful as the Ravens since the year 2000.

Patriots (duh) - in a class of their own (30 post season wins) Ravens - 16 post season wins Steelers - 15 post season wins Packers - 14 post season wins

That is pretty much it.

Every other team with similar playoff W/L records had a some very very good years (Colts, Seahawks, Eagles), but had/are having some real down periods during that time frame.

When it comes to super bowls, each one of those 4 teams have won at least 1 since 2000. Of this group, only Patriots, Ravens, and Steelers have more than 1 SB in this time frame. Packers have 1, but have not been back since.

Patriots again…league of their own with 6 wins and 9 appearances Ravens - 2 appearances, 2 wins Steelers - 2 appearance, 2 wins

So, these 3 teams have consistently put together good teams, that win playoff games, and have put it all together for a SB win twice.

Now, last fun fact:

The most impressive thing about the Ravens is we’re the only team in that bunch to do it without a long tenured HOF caliber QB heading the show.

Patriots had Brady (2000), Steelers had Big Ben (2004), Packers had Rodgers (2005) and Farve before that.

We had A carrousel of QBs until 2008, an Ok Flacco for about 10 years, and a great, but often injured/inconsistent Lamar since 2019.

The fact that the Ravens have maintained success despite our QB situations is a huge testimony to our team building abilities.

This team will be ok in the long term. We may never have the flashiest offense, or the dominant receivers, but we grind out wins. There is always room for improvement, but more often than not, things work out for the Ravens in the long run.
