Guys, Guys, Guys, Guys?

Serious question. Do we all agree on the fact that the word 'Guys', when trying to communicate with a group of people, is gender neutral?!

I had someone point out that I said guys a lot, and I said: "But guys can be used for both boys AND girls." But tshe didnt seem to convinced.

So, what do you think?
