Should Lord Zedd have directly fought The Rangers more often in the original Mighty Morphin series?

One of the coolest moments about Mighty Morphin was that one time Zedd directly fought Tommy in hand-to-hand combat and Zedd just absolutely mopped the floor with the white ranger.

I understand that Zedd is the Emperor of Evil and shouldn't have to lower himself to dirty his own hands to take on The Rangers, but it's always cool to see the big bad just run through the rangers to show off how powerful they are (Venjix did this in RPM, too).

I'm tempted to say that I wouldn't have minded seeing Zedd occasionally come down himself to stomp the rangers into the dirt, but I think what makes that fight with Tommy so cool was that we didn't see Zedd get into direct combat before that moment.

I also know that he was far more willing to get his hands dirty in Dino Fury, which was still awesome to see even if Zedd lacked Robert Axelrod's amazing voice, so this question is more focused on the original Mighty Morphin' series.
