Tampon 28-57 F2.8 G2 is incredible
Visiting Japan and was thinking of getting Z 24-70 F2.8 F mount and using FTZ, since native Z 24-70 F2.8 S was out of my price range. I already use Sigma 70-200HSM with FTZ so I have no issue with it. Then I saw Tamron’s Z 28-200 priced around $690 and tried it on Z7.
Damn. This is some FINE glass. There is hardly any difference I can spot between Z 50mm S 1.8 with same setting when it comes to resolution. AF is fast and silent, got a very popular filter size (67mm), and SUPER LIGHT. I’m used to carrying Sigma 70-200 with FTZ, which puts Sigma around ~2000g mark. Tamron glass is at 550g. With bad math, that’s about 1/4th reduction.
I’m so glad I gave this a try. This will easily replace my 40mm F2 Z, 50mm 1.8 S, and 35mm F1.4 sigma. The best part is that once I sell those, my net negative will be less than 200 bucks :)
