The BIG AND UPDATED Datamine/Leak Recap Encyclopedia Part 1 - Monsters

I am going to be splitting this into multiple posts as that is the best way to post and organize the information to fit within Reddit's 40k character limit. This one will go over the information about the game's monster roster, statuses, rigs, TU information, and endgame monster states.

This is PART 1.

Part 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/monsterhunterleaks/comments/1i4aq11/the_big_and_updated_datamineleak_recap/

Part 3: https://www.reddit.com/r/monsterhunterleaks/comments/1i4pgju/the_big_and_updated_datamineleak_recap/

Repository of my previous threads: https://www.reddit.com/r/monsterhunterleaks/comments/1hd8fyk/a_recap_and_refresher_of_the_last_week_of_the/

It's been a couple months since my last summary of stuff and while I had planned on not doing more, since my first 2 big summary posts, we've learned a whole lot of things so I am going to revisit the format and information of those summary posts because it's now been long enough that people are either forgetting information or don't know it at all, and some of my old info is being spread rather than accurate info. I will be recapping everything too, so this will be as comprehensive a base of knowledge as possible prior to our next big infodrop that might change our minds on some specific aspects of the information.

Do keep in mind that the beta's files are from at NEWEST late 2023 and likely older prior even to the game's reveal, and many things are in-development, incomplete, placeholder, or missing.

HOWEVER, also keep in mind that a lot of things are consistent with the full product as we know them currently. Do not automatically assume if something seems ‘weird’ or ‘wrong’ that it must be placeholder or incomplete.

Obviously, read and share at your own discretion, DO NOT use my posts to share information to those who do not wish to be spoiled, such as big content creators or people in servers. This is made for those like me who love Monster Hunter and just HAVE to know everything about the next game and those who find leaks an important part of the hype cycle.

MONSTERS

MH Wilds has a base roster of ~31 monsters, 15 brand new monster species, ~11 returning monster species, 4 variants for old species, 1 variant for a new species. This is the same amount of new monsters as Tri, 4 more than MH4, and 3 less than World while not having any bottom tier or copy/paste monsters unlike World where those 2 categories comprised half its new roster. There are NO ELDER DRAGONS IN MONSTER HUNTER WILDS ON LAUNCH.

There are 2 new monster classifications. SPECIES_016 and SPECIES_017 are 2 new varieties of monster, the former is a new Cephalopod class (currently not named), and the latter is very story related. If you wish not to be spoiled on the story, I will save them for their own section with a spoiler warning.

We will go through monsters in the order of their appearance in the game, saving the story spoiler ones for last.

In this section I will include each monster's;

  • internal ID
  • Class
  • Weapon Element if known
  • Hunter Rank Point reward
  • Zenny reward
  • Base size in cm
  • Weapons the monster has in the files

  • Her weapons have been seemingly homogenized to sleep status, whereas before it was a mix of poison and sleep, likely done for balance purposes. She lives in the lower caves area of Iceshard Cliffs, where she has a dedicated nest. One of the select monsters that has Frenzy Parameters in the beta files.

Hirabami

  • em_0161_00
  • Leviathan

  • 15120z
  • 1649cm
  •  LS, SA, Lance, CB, LBG, Bow

Has a dedicated nest in the Iceshard Cliffs lower section. Is one of the select monsters with Frenzy Parameters. Appears to be able to fly or hover, and hangs off the ceiling of the lower iceshard caves with hooks on its tail. Interestingly has green blood.

Ajarakan

  • em_0159_00
  • Fanged Beast

  • Vs Rompopolo, vs Black Flame
  • Oilwell Basin, Wounded Hollow
  • Chapter 2
  • Has a dedicated nest in the Oilwell Basin. Is the only known Blast monster/source of Blast equipment in the game. Has an audio file referring to it 'rampaging in the wounded hollow'. Is one of the "Fossil Fuel trio" as I call them of the oilwell basin, based on burning Coal and smelting ores.

Nu Udra - "The Black Flame"

  • em_0158_00
  • SPECIES_016 (Cephalopod? Mollusk?)
  • Fire
  • 950 HRP
  • 21240z
  • 2093cm
  • GS, Hammer, Lance, SA, CB, LBG, HBG
  • Vs Rompopolo, vs Arkveld
  • Oilwell Basin
  • Endboss of Chapter 2 of the story
  • Its name has finally been officially revealed as Nu Udra. We encounter it after the people of Azuz activate the Everforge to start the Firespring and it attacks, defeating 2 Ajarakan. Defeating it progresses us to HR5. Has a dedicated nest in the Oilwell Basin. Is the third of the Inclement Four. It is also one of the "Fossil Fuel Trio", being based on oil. At HR70 in the postgame, we unlock its Legendary Quest. It has references to having a state without oil covering it, as evidenced by its icon.

The next 2 monsters in the story are part of the Spoiler category so I will include them in their own section.

Ice Apex Leviathan

  • em_0162_00
  • Leviathan
  • Ice
  • 950 HRP
  • 21600z
  • 4560cm
  • GS, SnS, DB (not in beta), Hammer (not in beta), HH (not in beta), GL (not in Beta), IG, HBG/LBG (the files say it's an HBG but the weapon itself is in the LBG folder?? This is probably a strange accident/beta fuckery)
  • N/A
  • ICE_WALL_BOSS, whether or not it actually goes to Iceshard Cliffs proper is unknown
  • Chapter 3
  • A gargantuan leviathan as big as Kulve Taroth and Safi'jiiva. It is only repelled during the low rank story, we come back in high rank to kill it as evidenced by its placement in the weapon trees. It is the 2nd largest monster in the game and is the most powerful and fourth of the Inclement Four. During the story, we are sent to fight it as it is blocking the passage to an important character for the story. Defeating it progresses us to HR6. It seems to be able to walk on walls and has something to do with insects possibly. It freezes the ground as it walks with each step. It seems to have 4 phases, each with individual music track cues. It is likely the final phase is in High Rank only. It seems to be associated with a powerful Blizzard. At HR80 in the postgame, we unlock its Legendary quest.

There is another spoiler monster here before the next fight.

Shiiwuu? Shei Wu? Xue Wu? Spelling Unknown

  • em_0163_00
  • SPECIES_016 (Cephalopod? Mollusk?)
  • Water
  • 850 HRP

  • 1396cm
  • GS, SnS, Hammer (not in Beta), HH (not in beta), SA (not in Beta), Bow (not in Beta)
  • Vs (SPOILER)
  • Wounded Hollow
  • Chapter 3
  • A mysterious cephalopod monster that is very highly tiered, one of the highest of the non-inclement four and above the tier of the likes of Rathalos. It is extremely poorly known and we have only a few references to it, such as its name only said audibly, its japanese name transliterated as "Shiiwuu", only 2 of its weapons, its palico gear, a single piece of armor, and we only know it's water thanks to the Osaka footage from early december showing the low rank weapon trees. It has a dedicated nest in the Wounded Hollow and is the only new species native there.

Arkveld

  • em_0160_50
  • (SPOILER)
  • Dragon
  • 1000 HRP
  • 21960z
  • 1666cm
  • All 14, but missing most textures in the beta files
  • (SPOILER)
  • All?
  • Chapter 3
  • There is spoiler information I will share about Arkveld in the spoiler monsters section. For now we'll keep it brief here. Defeating it progresses us to HR7, then the final boss progresses us to HR8 which is the beginning of high rank.

The next monster is the final boss of the story. I will keep its details to the Spoiler Monster section. The story of the game ends at low rank, putting the final boss in the position of Zorah, Ceadeus, Shagaru Magala etc. This monster is fought at the end of low rank and its gear seems to be high rank, meaning it's a HR fight that is done in LR gear.

For now, I will move onto the high rank monster roster in the rough order we encounter them.

HIGH RANK MONSTERS

Yian Kut-Ku

  • em_0008
  • Bird Wyvern
  • Fire
  • 600 HRP
  • 15840z
  • 994cm
  • GS, DB, Hammer, HH, SA, IG, LBG, HBG, Bow
  • Vs Arkveld
  • Scarlet Forest, Iceshard Cliffs?
  • Chapter 4
  • Is the introductory monster to High Rank. Is our first urgent quest into high rank at HR8, unlocking the HR9-HR15 section. Kut Ku is larger than its previous iterations, is a pack monster, and is also considerably buffed, now being on par with Doshaguma and almost on par with Rathian in power tier going off its zenny rewards. The Sensei returns in his full glory to kick our ass at the start of high rank. Appears to have a deep religious or cultural connection to the Wudwuds, which is why we capture the Kut Ku instead of kill it. Is one of the select monsters with Frenzy parameters and is the only one that is not known to be in the Iceshard Cliffs, meaning it may go to some parts of that map.

Gypceros

  • em_0009
  • Bird Wyvern
  • Poison
  • 550 HRP
  • 12960z
  • 964cm
  • GS, SnS, DB, Hammer, HH, GL, CB, HBG
  • Vs Nerscylla
  • Windward Plains, Oilwell Basin, Iceshard Cliffs, Wounded Hollow
  • Chapter 4
  • In a first for the series, is high rank only. Has been in the beta files since the first OBT and has been restored to be fightable already. Has a dedicated nest in Oilwell basin. His SnS uses its Thunderbane design, and his GS returns for the first time since FU. He is one of the few monsters with Frenzy Parameters.

Rathian

  • em_0001
  • Flying Wyvern
  • Poison
  • 700 HRP
  • 15840z
  • 1704cm
  • GS, LS, SnS, HH, GL, SA, CB, IG, LBG, HBG, Bow
  • Vs Rompopolo, vs Quematrice
  • Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin
  • Chapter 4
  • In a first for the series she is HR only. She is part of a tutorial popup texture for Egg Quests, meaning she introduces this concept into high rank. She and Rathalos share a dedicated nest in the Scarlet Forest. Lacks her armor entirely in the beta files.

There is a spoiler monster around this section so I will skip it for now.

Rathalos

  • em_0002
  • Flying Wyvern
  • Fire
  • 800 HRP
  • 17640z
  • 1704cm
  • Everything but an HBG (missing GS, DBs in beta)
  • Vs Rompopolo, vs Quematrice, vs Uth Duna
  • Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin
  • Chapter 4
  • Is HR only for the first time since Dos, likely to be paired with Rathian. His armor seems to serve as the placeholder armor in the files, as there is dozens of copies of MHW Rathalos armor, while seemingly the new Rathalos set is not in the files yet as of the beta.

Seregios

  • em_0077
  • Flying Wyvern
  • Raw
  • 800 HRP
  • 16920z
  • Unknown
  • All 14 (missing GS, CB, Lance in the textures)
  • Unknown
  • Windward Plains (presumed)
  • Chapter 4 (Presumed)
  • Seregios is one of the two most incomplete monsters, alongside Lagiacrus. It has no TW data, no size data, seemingly no nest (however, Windward plains in the beta is its scrubbed, Low-Rank version), among various other things. However, we are able to place it at this point in the order due to 2 key factors which will go more in depth later, but the SERIES_IDs have a blank space right before Gravios, and we can play Seregios there as in the icon data, after Rathalos and before Gravios is Seregios, and he lines up in the HRP and Zenny with them quite nicely, meaning he's at the same rough point in the game. He is not a title update as some have insinuated he is due to the incomplete data, as assuming this means the Iceshard Cliffs is a title update as it is also missing data. Seregios has more gear created and modeled for it than even Gravios or Rathian, having both its armor sets complete and most weapons and its palico gear, while Gravios and Rathian have no armor and just their weapons and palico gear. He is likely the returning apex for the Windward Plains.

Gravios

  • em_0005
  • Flying Wyvern
  • Unknown, either sleep, fire, or poison.
  • 800 HRP
  • 17280z
  • 2100cm
  • SnS, DB, Hammer, Lance, GL, IG, LBG, HBG
  • Vs Arkveld
  • Oilwell Basin
  • Chapter 4
  • We just got some gameplay of Gravios in action, and he seems to have taken cues from every version of Gravios, including Black and Apex as well as Basarios and has a couple new moves too. He is the returning Apex for the Oilwell Basin and seems to have his own version of the theme there, meaning that possibly the other returning apexes have this as well. He has his own dedicated nest in the Oilwell Basin.

Blangonga

  • em_0022
  • Fanged Beast
  • Ice
  • 750 HRP
  • 16560z
  • 899cm
  • LS (not in beta), SnS, DB, Hammer (not in beta), IG, Bow, LBG
  • Vs Hirabami
  • Iceshard Cliffs
  • Chapter 4? Chapter 5?
  • Blangonga is in the upper part of the Iceshard Cliffs that is only accessible in High Rank. It seems to have been buffed considerably as Blangonga is now the highest of the mid tier/below apex level monsters in the entire game, giving the highest HRP and Zenny out of all of them, even above Ajarakan. It is one of the monsters that can become frenzied and is the most powerful out of the ones that have Frenzy params currently in the files. It is possible that the first Blangonga we fight is Frenzied much like the Tigrex in MH4's story being frenzied for our first encounter. His armor and weapons have been heavily redesigned to be less tribal in influence and more southeast asian in design influence, taking cues from buddhist and hindu cultural aesthetics rather than the previous african tribal aesthetics. I am hopeful that he will do his MHDos intro power clash and live up to the potential he has always had.

Gore Magala

  • em_0071
  • ??? (SPECIES_019 is the ??? class)
  • Dragon
  • 900
  • 20880z
  • 1765cm
  • All 14 weps
  • Vs Arkveld
  • Iceshard Cliffs
  • Chapter 5
  • The big bad of the high rank story elements we do know of, with the return of the frenzy virus in the game. Seems to have some kind of relationship to Arkveld. The presence of Shagaru, or rather its entire complete absence from the files, is a mystery, and might have something to do with the story. For now I will avoid spoilers and talk about it in the spoiler monster section. Gore Magala is the highest tiered returning monster and is the only of the non-Inclement Four, Arkveld, or final boss to be in the 900+ HRP tier. At HR90 in the postgame we unlock Legendary Gore Magala.

Lagiacrus

  • em_0046
  • Leviathan
  • Thunder
  • 850 HRP
  • 19800z
  • Size Unknown
  • 13/14 weps, only lacking an IG
  • TWs Unknown
  • Scarlet Forest
  • Unknown
  • Lagiacrus is one of the biggest mysteries of the beta. We know it's in, because it is very complete in terms of armor and weapons, having its male set and all of its weapons, lacking female armor and its palico gear, and it has a dedicated nest in the Scarlet Forest, Zone 19. This Zone has so far not been seen at all in the files nor has it been seen in the footage, leading some to think that Lagiacrus is a title update along with how it is the least complete monster so far. While I'm not a believer of this theory personally, it is also not impossible (unlike Seregios imo). For specific details about the Chinese leak that we saw Lagia and Seregios from originally, this leaker seems to be someone in the Chinese marketing team who gave us information from trailers he saw. He specified that he saw Mizutsune and Zinogre, but that they were title updates, which is consistent with us having little-to-no data about those two, while not referring to Lagia and Sere as such. Some have had the idea that Lagia and Seregios are TUs, but given how much is present of them, the most likely explanation is that they are in the base game but just were indev at the time the beta was split off from main core development. This is where it being an old build screws us a bit. Lagiacrus’s nest is missing from the map, however it seems more likely that it’s just due to him being extremely new at time of the beta branch as there is a TON missing from high rank in general. Interestingly, his icon space (E0000) indicates that he is the strange series ID_2 that is out of order, likely an indev placeholder spot for him. That said, due to Lagiacrus seemingly being buffed in tier like Blangonga and Kut Ku, it might be either a postgame monster or the first title update to give it more special reverence like Zinogre was in IB (postgame) or Deviljho or Rajang for World/IB (first TU). It would be weird for his gear to be so complete at the time of an over year+ old beta while the other known TU monsters have basically nothing worked on and the leaker's claims are from August which is 6 months prior to game launch and didn't mention Lagia as a TU (eg it's newer than the beta by a good bit and so Lagia could have been finished in that timeframe). In addition the lack of its map could be explained by it being an HR only area, of which we know there are several, and also that Iceshard Cliffs, also being very heavily featured in HR, is missing its map data from the beta. Therefore while we can't say for certain (and trust me I wish I could) I'll lean more on Lagia being basegame than a TU, while saying Lagia as TU1 is a distinct possibility.
  • EDIT: Update, we now know at what point Lagiacrus is at in the game through the armor files.

em_0165 is probably the Training Dummy. We had an entire arc on the leaks subreddit about whether or not it was the final boss but evidence points to it being the dummy currently.

This is the last monster for the main section. We will now talk about SPOILER TERRITORY.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE STORY, LORE, AND FINAL BOSSES, BELOW THIS POINT

-

NEW MONSTER CLASSIFICATION: GUARDIAN MONSTERS
"The guardians were created with several unique properties. One, they don't eat. Wyveria's energy is their sole requirement to function, thus they have no need for predation. Two. They live indefinitely, therefore have no need to reproduce, As long as they continue to consume the Wyvern Milk. Ever since Wyveria fell, the Guardians remained dormant. Until recent years, when they began to awaken. This place is rich in Wyvern Milk. They have all the sustenance they could ever need. The Guardians were modeled after existing monsters, enhancing their traits, and it seems that Arkveld was singled out."

Guardian Monsters are, in essence, homunculi. They are artificial monsters that do not need to eat, they do not die of old age, and were created by the Ancient Civilization to be servile and serve various functions. These monsters basically are homunculi made with bioenergy and the "dragon torch", which we will get into during the story section, to serve functions for the Ancient Civilization, the Artians, before their collapse in the distant past, to which these monsters have gone dormant. Arkveld is a Guardian, as is the final boss, Zotia. They all have blue blood. These monsters are not just a 'variant' type like Deviants or Apexes but are an entirely new monster classification. They are their own classification because they have no connections to the tree of life or relations to other monsters, instead being artificial constructs, eg Guardian Arkveld is not a flying wyvern because she isn't evolved from other wyverns.

Guardian Doshaguma

  • Chapter 3
  • We hunt Guardian Doshaguma in the same quest as Guardian Rathalos. We know its weapons are raw via the Osaka weapon tree footage. This is the first monster of chapter 3 alongside G Rathalos.

Guardian Rathalos

  • Chapter 3
  • Yes, we fight the variation of Rathalos in Low Rank before actual Rathalos in High Rank. In a funny twist of weirdness, Rathian's weapons branch off from the Guardian Rathalos tree, while normal Rathalos branches off the Hope tree.

  • Chapter 3
  • Its designation of _51 and not _50 implies it is a guardian subspecies. There is no standard Odogaron or Ebony Odogaron in the game, only the Guardian. It is fought after em162 during the story and seems to have a fight with Shiiwuu. Shiiwuu is also known as the "Guardian Hunter" and it has a higher Zenny reward than all the guardians. We know it's in low rank due to its series ID, quest progression order, and its weapons being visible in the Osaka trees. We do not know if its weapons are slap-on designs or brand new designs.

  • Chapter 3
  • This is the flagship Arkveld, that is referred to in the main monster section. The Arkveld we've already seen via the trailer, cover, and render are the Guardian form. In the dialogue, it is implied Arkveld is special as it is a recreation of a now extinct species. The story heavily revolves around this monster that had been kept in chains, and now has escaped and gets to live free, but has never known anything other than pain and suffering, so it lashes out at all life around it, draining it and stealing their elemental abilities, which it is draining to achieve a “higher state of being”. There are Arkveld sounds in the game files, which may be Arkveld trying to locate others of its species but receiving no response, like the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō bird. Arkveld's goal seems to be to transcend its artificial nature. We only kill her once she becomes drunk with power. There is something referred to as 'Aberrant' Arkveld but that might just be what Alma is calling Arkveld after she has gone rampant. In the ending of the main story in low rank, we find eggs laid by Arkveld, who has passed on her genes to the next generation, saving her species from extinction and transcending her former homunculus nature to become a mother through parthenogenesis. These eggs have major implications for the high rank story and will be covered in a further spoiler section at the end. She is one of a kind, the only one in existence, therefore while we can repeat the LR quest to grind her equipment, there is likely no HR version, evidenced by the lack of a legendary quest in the game files, she and the LR final boss being the only two like this. Her gear likely functions like Zorah in Iceborne, or Ceadeus weapons in Tri, using other monster's materials in addition to her own to upgrade.

  • Chapter 4
  • Strangely enough, it's fought in high rank and is the only guardian in high rank only. The others do have HR forms as evidenced by having legendaries, but only G Fulgur is exclusive to HR. It is encountered alongside a Legendary Lala Barina in the Wounded Hollow where both are hunted at once.

  • Chapter 3's endboss and the final boss of the main story
  • Pronounced Zo-Shee-Uh, (it may be spelled "Zoshia" but I just went with the spelling that is more like Artian) It is the final boss of Low rank. We originally believed it to be the final boss of High Rank, but discovering the quest progression file matched up with Osaka footage changed our perspective and led us to discovering the SERIES_IDs and weapon trees. Zotia is said to be the "ultimate weapon of Wyveria", and the "Ultimate Guardian". It seems to be a re-envisioning of the concept of the Equal Dragon Weapon in a context that fits the current, low fantasy version of Monster Hunter using ideas of alchemy rather than a stitched together abomination. It feeds on the Dragon Torch, the source of limitless energy that creates the weather effects across the Forbidden Lands. It is slain in the end, apparently after an "agonizing choice", for the greater good, as killing it stops it from causing further harm to the ecology of the Forbidden Lands but snuffs out a unique form of life, even if artificial. Like the other guardians, it has blue blood. It is the largest monster in the game.
  • There is a theory that Zotia is a gigantic, mutant Seikret or otherwise a giant avian, referencing the “Somult” we heard in Kunafa. We do know that Zotia has something to do with Crystals, possibly Wylk (Wyvern Milk) Crystals, and has wingarm but without mention of it having any forelimbs to break. This could mean it uses the Gore Magala rig, but I think it’s more likely that it’s a giant avian that uses either the Gore rig without front legs, or instead uses the Seregios rig. It could also just not have forelimb breaks and be a hexapodal dragon like Gore or Gogmazios.
  • Zotia has coding for "Wounded Crystals", "Black Wounds", and "Abundant Blue/Red light"

  • Chapter 5
  • The original Arkveld species, resurrected. Likely the child of the Guardian, Arkveld, or as I will call it to avoid confusion as I've variously referred to it, "FW Arkveld" for Flying Wyvern Arkveld due to its classification, is the final boss of high rank in MH Wilds. It appears to have a duality with Gore Magala and may kill it during the main story, preventing it from moulting into Shagaru Magala, hence the lack of that monster. We fight Arkveld at the very end of high rank, at HR40. Defeating it uncaps our HR for good. There are likely multiple Arkveld offspring, and this particular individual may be hunted for research, or perhaps because it is a troublemaker and has amassed too much power. FW Arkveld is treated as an invader, capable of appearing in every map and draining the element from a monster, then using it through its chainblade wings. Similarly to Alatreon it is capable of wielding every element. Once FW Arkveld is defeated our HR is uncapped permanently. At HR100, we unlock the game's final quest, a Legendary FW Arkveld. Specific story details are scant due to a lack of high rank audio files.

The following is some narrative/story speculation about Arkveld and Gore Magala's relationship to one another.

  • I believe Gore Magala and Arkveld are Mirror/Counterparts to one another like Lagiacrus and Rathalos. They are opposite color schemas "The White Wraith" vs "The Black Eclipse", both have a major emphasis on special attributes of their wings (chainblades vs huge wingarms), both have some kind of relationship to other monsters (Arkveld gets it power from other monsters, Gore Magala is born from and infects other monsters, Arkveld gets more powerful from monsters while Gore make other monsters more powerful), Gore is like an evil sorcerer while Arkveld is like a valiant knight, they have many parallels.
  • I believe through Arkveld's elemental absorption it is capable of taking the frenzy into itself and converting it into energy and power, both from Gore itself and from corpses left behind by the frenzy, acting like a natural 'cleaner' of the virus like how decomposers break down harmful diseases and take them into themselves as reservoirs.
  • It is possible if not likely that the Artians hunted Arkveld into extinction and used them as the basis for the Dragon Torch as it seems similar to Arkveld's abilities. They then recreated Arkveld to try and fight off frenzy, but their civilization collapsed, leading to just the 1 Arkveld, which was then chained by the Keepers, not knowing its purpose leading into the story.
  • Gore and Arkveld also share a bit of a music motif between one another, I might be wrong on this particular point but I don't think I am - from what we can hear of Arkveld's theme in the 4th trailer, there is a motif that sounds JUST like a more heroic, sped up version of Gore's theme including even the same "whirly" music motif (I'm not sure the exact instrument), Gore Magala's theme at 0:51 seconds and Arkveld's theme at 2:12 (both timestamped) and this just further solidifies them to me.
  • A fantastic theory by u/FallenSabre1100 and my reply to their post expands on these ideas and some possible themes around it.

END OF MAJOR SPOILER SECTION

TITLE UPDATE MONSTERS, RIGS, AND STATUSES

We currently know of 2 Title update monsters for Wilds, and have implications for a 3rd and reasonable assumption for a 4th. There is also the chance that Lagiacrus is a TU. We will see, but here is what we know so far as definitive TU monsters, as well as why and how we know about them. We don't know every title update.

Mizutsune

  • We know of Mizutsune through a total of 2 definitive sources and 1 I cannot get 100% confirmation on. The first source is the Chinese leaker, who leaked every other returning monster except Gravios (we understand why now, because it was part of the IGN first look, likely settled on in advance). The 2nd source is the status effects list. At the end of the hunter malady list, below "LAST_BOSS", is Minor and Severe Bubbleblight. The 3rd source is apparently a reference to Mizutsune's ID in the files, but I've not been able to get confirmation if this is true myself. Any people I've seen mention this say it is the base species.

Zinogre

  • Through the Chinese Leaker, who mentioned it would be a Title Update. It is believed that it is part of the first (maybe 2nd) TU alongside Mizu due to their MH gen intro and rivalry with one another.

Gogmazios

  • We know of Gogmazios through the same status list as Mizutsune. In this file, below LAST_BOSS and below the bubbleblights, is HEAVY_OIL. This is the directly translated name of Gogmazios's Tarred Status. While it is possible it is for Black Flame, Black Flame does not seem to have any references to using this, and rather uses its own "Oil" status effect. That would mean that unless there is a new HEAVY_OIL monster or that the beta is lacking this context about Black Flame, that Gogmazios returns as a title update.
  • EDIT: Nu Udra (Black Flame) DOES NOT USE TARRED. GOG IS IN.

Shagaru Magala

  • We do not have any actual evidence of Shagaru Magala being in the game. However, it is not an unreasonable assumption that it will be in the game through title updates given that Gore is in and plays a big part in the story. The chinese leaker refused to answer about Shagaru, saying it would be a major spoiler to give an answer on it. I believe this is because of the duality between Arkveld and Gore Magala, and Arkveld prevents Gore from turning into Shagaru.

ENDGAME MONSTER STATES

Monsters have 3 possible states, normal, Frenzied, and Legendary. Legendary seems to be an endgame modifier of some kind, and Frenzied is of course related to Gore Magala.

FRENZIED MONSTERS:

Frenzy tags seem to only have data for the following Monsters: Yian Kut-Ku, Gypceros, Blangonga, Hirabami, Nerscylla.

We know for sure that 4/5 are the endemic monsters of the iceshard Cliffs, and that Gore is endemic there. This means it’s possible that Frenzy is solely endemic to the iceshard cliffs. Yian Kut-Ku is a bit of an outlier, perhaps since Yian Kut-Ku is based on birds which do often migrate, but that is the strangest one and so it could go either way. This is a case of the beta data being so incomplete and old screwing us a bit in regards to speculation. Maybe more monsters in the postgame will get tempered. Too little to say. However based on the story and lack of Shagaru I think it's equally if not more likely that Frenzy was only included to be plot-relevant for Gore and Arkveld rather than just slapping in Gore on his own like in Gen or Sunbreak.

Interestingly, applying Frenzy to Rey Dau makes its AI change. This is bizarre, as Rey Dau has no Frenzy params, unlike Gypceros. Rey Dau's colors do not change, and it does not afflict frenzy, it only huffs out the frenzy smoke from its mouth. This means, likely, that what's happening is that Rey Dau's AI is being tricked into becoming High Rank through the frenzy.

LEGENDARY MONSTERS:

Legendary is the new endgame modifier. It increases the monster’s HP, Damage, Stagger Resistance, and Speed. Legendary Monsters have “Tempered Parts”. These parts are covered in scars and take less damage than usual. When wounded, they get a blue scoutfly glow instead of the usual red, and destroying the wound will restore the hitzone to its standard value, and weaken the part. It likely also drops a Legendary Part, used to max out a monster’s weapons similar to Hyper parts in MHGen. In the beta, this crashes the game. At this time, due to low rank AI in the beta, they do not display any combat changes as the Legendary Versions should be working off HR AI, so the changes likely aren’t applying. Aside from Guardian Arkveld and the final boss, all the other monsters are capable of going Legendary, even Chatacabra.
