Roadtop Apple Carplay Screen Causes Electrical Failures - C300 W205 2015
Hi everyone, I have a C300 w205 2015 that I had replaced the original screen for a Roadtop Apple CarPlay 12.3inch screen. I am no longer facing these issues since I reverted back to the original screen (sadly), and have yet to find one that wouldn't cause me to run into this problem. Below I'll explain the entire situation:
Before installing anything, my car was perfectly fine. 0 electrical failures. I had replaced the battery a year prior.
Within a week of installing the CarPlay screen, my battery had drained completely after a 9-5 work day. I replaced the battery a day after. Battery drained again a week later. Within that week, my passenger doors were failing to lock/unlock, needing me to manually open the doors from inside the car to let passengers in. On top of all that, my AC Condenser stopped powering on until I was at least driving 40mph or I stepped on the gas aggressively (kind of like powering a chainsaw). I live in Miami, so being inside the car until I get a chance to step on the gas is basically cooking myself alive for a good 5 minutes (even with ceramic tints).
I removed the CarPlay screen and my car immediately went back to normal. I've had 0 issues with any door locks, my battery is at 100% health all the time. However, now my AC stayed with the same symptoms.
I haven't found anyone/anywhere mentioning these problems when installing CarPlay screens to their cars, and even less with the w205.
I was wondering, has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there any fix?
I tried to return, was offered an exchange. The replacement screen also caused same issues. RoadTop has since ghosted me saying my car is the problem and they already "refunded" by sending another screen
