Russell Park closed for hunting, no signs posted

Was issued a ticket for being in a closed park. Signs were posted on the roads, but I hiked 16 miles in and didn't see them.

The ranger stopped me and explained. I apologized profusely and said I'd exit (3 min walk) immediately. Which was my plan the whole time.

He continued berating me and issued a ticket. Title 36 Section 377.186 if I'm reading it correctly. What are the ramifications? I've heard of criminal charges for this stuff like a group that camped in the wrong spot while hiking the grand canyon. Will post a link when I find it later.

And in any case the sun was setting, I'd just finished 16 miles, was out of water, ending my hike as planned. There wasn't really another option. This is near Georgetown lake in Texas.
