Learning a language because of media?

Why is it such a bad thing to start wanting to learn a language because of something like movies, music, or media? This is especially prevalent when people are learning Japanese or Korean. I have seen so many posts and comments throwing negativity toward people who are attempting to learn a language because they like kpop or anime. Why is this? I get that some people may take learning the language lightly if this is their reason, but aren't they still putting in the effort to step out of their comfort zone and attempt to learn a difficult skill? Plus, media is one of the most common ways to learn about other cultures and customs, so why is it so bad to become interested because of it? I got into Kpop a little bit ago, it is what got me into learning Korean. I have always liked studying languages and ones with different alphabets interest me, and I thought, why not learn Korean? So I did. Even though it was a casual thing for me at first, I fell more and more in love with the language and culture. I am now signed up in classes and plan on Minoring in it at college. Even though my studies started off as casual, I eventually started learning for real. What is so wrong with starting off a language slowly and casually because of something else that got you interested? Also, don't hold back on your comments, they will not effect my studies, I am just genuinely interested to know the reasons for all the negativity.
