How to escape from wilderness slayer cave?

Hi, wildy enjoyer here, been having a lot of fun learning to tank test at revs / rogues castle / zombie pirates, but one place I'm having issues with is the slayer cave. Let's say I'm on a hellhounds task and I get TBed, what are my options for escaping? Is the best play to run to the south entrance and use the exit to try to get gap or a log?
