Despite being a noble's son you are seventh and last of your line, and have been given next to no attention by any of the noble families, including your own; no house representatives come to speak to you, and none of the noblewomen even grant you a glance as you ask them to dance, and your very own own family has gone off dancing and networking without so much as telling you, abandoning you to your lonely devices.

As you stare across the gala to the dance floor, nursing a glass of punch, you wonder if you should just call it a night.
