How to keep my kick from bouncing?

When the beater hits the base drum it hits it multiple times. How can I stop this? Is it something to do with my technique or the base drum pedal itself?

Another issue I’ve been having is transitioning between an electric base drum and an acoustic one. They feel very different. Is there something I can do to make the transition easier?

I don’t know anything about base drums so all help is greatly appreciated!
