The Purpose of the US Sovereign Wealth Fund is for the US Government to Openly Control AI

The AI race is more consequential to the human species in the 21st Century than the Space Race was in the 20th.

What will win? Compute. How do you get compute? You throw money at processors (and eventually quantum).

How do you ensure that your country “wins” then? Give it access to unlimited capital. However, like China, the US will want to control the result. With a sovereign wealth fund, it can make it look like it was just a smart investment—they just happened to bet on the company that would dominate the space.

The public would never support the government just saying “we control AI from this point forward”.
