I'm finally going to start learning blender and I have some questions
First off: where do I even get started? What are some of the first things people should learn when getting into 3d modeling (I don't want to start wrong and develop bad habbits? There are so many things you can do with blender that I'm a little overwhelmed as to where to start. This is all probably going to be learned through youtube tutorials. Is there a go to channel I should know about? Probably one of the biggest things that has been keeping me from making the plunge has been the jargon. I'll read comments of people explaining how they did something and it's all moon man talk to me. For example, if someone wanted to get into making r/HighQualityGifs, I'd suggest they learn about Bezeir masking and rotoscoping. Those aren't usually words people understand or have even heard of without experience.
Final question: I see that a lot of people are using more than just blender. I keep reading things like this was made with blender, cycles, and premiere. I don't have premiere, but I do have vegas pro 16. What other programs or addons (if it even works that way) do I need to look into (i'm not looking on spending much if any money until I know this will actually become a hobby I am good at and enjoy). I'm gonna run through making shapes and or basic starter renders, but my first achievable project would be to make a 3d model of BMO. I figured that would be a good obtainable goal (not saying it'll be easy or fast). Ideally with time, determination, and a lot of practice, the dream is to be able to create entire landscapes for a lack of a better word like this (to go back to adventure time). For now I'm not even thinking about animation. I an i7-8850H, a gtx 1080, and 32gb ram. Ok I lied, one more question: would I see better performance if I installed everything blender related on an ssd instead of a hdd?
Edit: My 3 SSDs are pretty full, but my HDD has a good 800gb free. If I do need to have everything rendered to an ssd to save time, how much space should I have allocated for all things blender related?
