The shift in tone of the Mystery series.
To me it's so funny. The Mystery series starts off with personal, cute, or sensible mysteries. Like money missing from Stacey's babysitting job, Janine acting out of character and making Claudia suspicious, etc. Dawn's missing dog story even features her calling the police at the very least. The books get ridiculous in Stacy and Mystery Money where she decides not to call the police when she spots the counterfeiters. Then Kristy ups the ante in Claudia and the Mystery at the Museum with the line "I guess we've decided that we're going to try and solve this mystery" when discussing a robbery at the art museum. It's funny to me cuz the books had established for years that they're average everyday girls. Yet all of a sudden they're excellent detectives who can solve crimes that the police can't. Nancy Drew works because it's established that she's a great detective from the beginning. The BSC Mysteries just become plain unrealistic for the most part. I haven't finished the series so idk if they'll get back to the basics or not. What do you guys think?
