What was your most "Seriously, this is bullshit..." moment during your enlistment?

I did my four years somewhat between the two major periods of the gulf war and wasn't deployed so I'm drawing from a limited set here but the one that truly pissed me off the most was over something so stupid...

I was stationed at Fort Gordon in the late 90's and they were deactivating my signal company. It was a Friday and my platoon was bullshitting around the motorpool because...that's what you do. The platoon sergeant (we called him Fruit because he was shaped like a pear- he was retiring in the next few weeks and was an asshole) called me into our company office which was nearly empty with the exception of some chairs and desks. He tells me that by COB all of this shit needs to be gone. He said, and I quote "I don't give a shit where it goes but it needs to be gone by cob formation." (Important point, the XO happened to be in the room and within earshot.)

I give him a "hooah" and carry on. I was a lowly specialist but I grabbed a few guys and passed the word that they could take what they wanted and dumpster the rest. I snagged an office chair for my computer at home and went about the day. The office was empty and swept.

Later that day the company was lined up waiting the cob formation to actually start for our weekend safety briefing and Fruit calls me up in front of the company where he's talking to the CO. He asks with "What did you do with that chair I told you to bring up to the CO's office..." I say "You told me to get rid of that stuff" and he just says "Start pushing"... so I do.

The XO walks over and tells me to recover and get back in formation. He pulls the CO over around the corner of the building for a moment, the CO calls Fruit over for a moment and we barely catch a conversation about leading with integrity. It made me smile. Our CO and XO were both good officers. I ran into the CO a few years later when I was stationed in Korea and he asked my where his chair was.
