its about time to accept theres something wrong with siege towers being eternally useless.

this is a real time strategy game franchise about ancient warfare that has been around for decades. its 2025 now and siege towers, an iconic siege weapon, are S.T.I.L.L. useless and its hyper normalized, which should have never been the case, but here we are.

the point is theres this survival shooter game i like called Rust, they announced a "primitive update" which is a bunch of ancient warfare weapons, including siege. they even show a siege tower.

i swear, if Rust, a 12 yr old survival shooting game, makes a siege tower actually useful BEFORE age of empires, a 28 year old rts ancient warfare game.. dont you see how bad this is?

we are just gonna keep normalizing this, right?

EDIT: im thinking maybe make stone walls much more durable to the point it takes a lot to destroy them, but they also have an upkeep cost (likely stone) and if you run out of it they collapse, then give infantry the ability to climb down a wall using ropes so they land on the other side of the wall (a new tech maybe?)

this way we make it harder for siege weapons to destroy walls enough for siege towers to be useful, while not overpowering the stone walls since the player needs to constantly spend stone just to maintain them

thoughts?
