TIL something I've been doing since forever is called Semantic Paraphasia and is a Thing.

For example:

saying: "Please close the window" when I mean, "please close the door"

or: "It's in the garage" (its in the shed) etc.

Generally it's a related word, not a random one, which can make it all the more confusing for the person I'm talking to. I used to do it during my PhD as well, with location names, other tedious geological nomenclature and it used to confuse my supervisor no end.

Does anyone else do this? is this an adhd thing?
