Infuriating experience with Express Scripts

I know everyone goes on and on about how shitty Express Scripts is, so here's my addition to the pile.

I've had a prescription with ES for weeks that wasn't getting filled because they were out of stock. I saw a post on here last week that ES got stock in so I figured I'd shoot my shot and call. I called on Wednesday May 15, and the person I spoke with confirmed they DID have stock and would place my order for a 3-month supply of 5 mg! Sure enough, my order status went from "Placed" to "Processing" on May 15, and then on May 16 I was charged $225 for my 3-month supply. That must be a good sign, right?

Well, my order remained in "Processing" on Friday and throughout the weekend. I hoped it would ship today, Monday, but when I checked it was still "Processing." So I called to check on the status and am now being told they are unable to fill my order and ship it because the medication is out of stock. They expect to receive more on May 31.

So I'm pretty livid now. Why was I charged for it then? Was it going to remain "Processing" indefinitely? I spoke to two different people today and they told me two completely different things. The first told me that I should keep calling to check stock because they don't auto-process anything. The second told me that because I was already charged for the medication, it will automatically ship when there is a restock and I won't need to keep calling for availability. He also mentioned that there is a chance "the system" could decide to cancel my order at any time, though, in which case I would receive a full refund.

I don't usually go off on customer service representatives, but the "support" I received from ES has been some of the worst I've ever experienced. It seems they have no idea what their processes are or how their system functions. On the off chance that my order will auto-ship when it's in, I told them to leave the order as is for now, but I have zero confidence that this will work out.

In the meantime I have switched over to compounded tirz, so I'm all set for a while, but it's more expensive for me and I'd rather use name brand if I can.

What a nightmare!

ETA: Just a couple hours after posting this, ES has “Stopped” my order. Man, they are the fucking worst.

Second edit (5/23): Just called ES again because my refund still has not gone through. On the call, the customer service rep told me first that they don’t refund me because the medication will automatically ship when it’s in stock. I said I was told you don’t do that. Then she said I have to call around May 30, 31 to see if it’s in stock. I said I don’t want to do that I just want a refund. Then she said she can’t give me one but someone from accounts will call me. I said please can you just transfer me now. “No ma’am, but I assure you if they say they’ll call, they’ll call.” I said I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences with you so I don’t trust that they will call. So I ended up yelling at her and hanging up on her. I still don’t have my refund and I have zero faith they will call me to fix this. I told her if it’s not refunded soon I will be filing a disputed charge with my bank.
