Don't count 2.5 out!

I'm posting this because I've seen some past entries (mostly from people who've not started their zep journey just yet, and are worried - understandably - that they won't be able to titrate up effectively) that express worry about getting "stuck" on 2.5. And just to start this off: I get it. I felt the same way.

To set the stage: I am 50F, 5'2" SW 174, CW 155, GW 135. My body, historically, has been a stubborn, frustrating non-responder to anything: Food intake, diets, calorie counting, consistent, demanding workouts, twice-a-day workouts... anything. I was always heavier and having to watch my weight since I was a child if I didn't want to balloon; by the time I had 2 kids, there was no more watching my weight; my body just did what it wanted, and what it wanted was to grow in every possible direction.

I started Zepbound at the end of March on the recommendation of my doctor. My BMI was 30+, my cholesterol climbing steadily. Since my body has done me no favors, I assumed that either I will be a non-responder, OR the side-effects will be so bad I will not really have an option to continue. But to my great surprise... with the exception of constipation (no joke!) and the help of Zofran, I somehow got to the end of 4 weeks having lost 8 lbs. We decided to keep me on 2.5, and 4-weeks/3-shots later (spacing them out in fear of the shortage) I now lost a total of 18 lbs, which is more than 10% of my body weight.

In another thread that I found helpful, someone shared that his research showed that 2.5 is not marketed as a therapeutic dose because it was never included in the clinical trials, and therefore cannot be marketed as such. And I get that every body is different, and that 2.5 will not do for everyone what it did for me. Many people are going to have to go up to 5, and 7.5, and 10 and on and on to see any impact.

But my story now is that 2.5 has done wanders for me. I am staying on 2.5 for the foreseeable future (assuming I continue to be able to find it) because it's clearly working on my body. I don't know that it would have the same impact for everyone else, but there is now plenty of evidence that people out there have had the desired effect with it so don't count 2.5 out! See how it effects your body, and take it from there.
