Realistic Savings Goals?

Finally earning a bit more money and feel like it's getting squandered and wondering what a realistic savings goal should be.

We have a joint income of ~£5000. £1800 goes on bills/mortgage/childcare, £1600 pays for food, petrol, cleaner, general spending money. That leaves £1600 for savings (a third of our income) - this is intended for savings but often gets gobbled up by holidays/birthdays/home improvements/car maintenance ect.

Any input on our budgeting would be greatly received! Trying to work out how much should be left in the savings at the end of the year (ie long term savings)... Potential savings of £19200, would just half of this be reasonable or are we massively overspending? Holidays and eating out/takeaways are big far our biggest costs.

Thank you! ❤️❤️
