How did satan attempt to overthrow the Lord God?

I heard angels are outside of time to an extent.

Could it be satans attempt to overthrow God actually happened when he decided to tempt Jesus? Perhaps that was his plan on overthrowing God?

It maybe be a long time after the fall, but for a fallen angel it might have been immediate?
