Are people bummed about Paris?
Why are we not going crazy with fun theories??
I for one is excited about that we are getting a more flushed out ending. It was unsatisfactory in the book with "Junior year I went to Spain where I had lots and lots of adventures." I want to see this important part of Belly's arc. I think there is some silly ship war stuff being circulated again, but there is in my mind absolutely no way the endgame gets changed.
I am just curious how they will flush out the ending. It makes sense to me that Conrad eventually visits Belly in Paris - like in "Sabrina". I don't have an issue with that, especially if this takes place close to two years after they saw each other on her wedding day. However, my theory is that they will move up Paris to Belly's Sophomore year. She will leave right after the failed wedding, is my prediction. It is similar to how Conrad ended up on the West Coast and found himself; now it is her turn.
So what if, and just hear me out, the letters still happen (perhaps starting a few months after they said goodbye) and eventually she writes back (imagine the beautiful montage from another Christmas in Cousins with Conrad's VO, and "love, Conrad" Swoon!) They write back and forth and then he shows up in Paris, in May. They kiss. She tells him she'd loved him since she was 10. They hook up! They decide to give each other some time. They separate, it's emotional but hopeful. We get a montage over Susannah's letter to Belly and we are at the wedding. "I go where you go."
What about Jere? I want Jere and Belly to resolve things, be friends. I want the brothers to reconcile. I can't figure out Jere in Paris, but I do think it can be a ruse. Or a dream. Or deep pocket Fisher goes there to see her and tell her to answer his brother's letters, and that it will be fine if they want to be together.
Theories???
