Did anyone get Christmas gifts from students parents this year?
Hey all! Back again with a shocking discovery.
So this year I did not expect my students parents to get me anything for christams but when I didn’t get ANYTHING…. Not even a “thank you teacher and a happy new year” I couldn’t help but feel discouraged.
I brought each of my students a gift bag and made them cute ornaments with their faces to put on their Christmas trees ( I teach kindergarten). And I always make my self easily accessible for my students parents whenever they have a question or concern.
I saw a lot of my parents Friday and when I gave their child a gift bag for Christmas the parents didn’t even say thank you! I was just in complete shock. Is it parental entitlement or am I being dramatic?
I would have been appreciative if the parents gave me verbal acknowledgment, but NOTHING.
I think it just goes to show how under appreciated teachers are today and it’s sad
Update: I’m not saying for parents to say thank me for the gift bags.. but for parents to thank me for the first half of the school year and show me a bit of appreciation for the hard work I’m putting in to their child’s education.
