The Tortured Poets Department benefited from The Eras Tour but also suffered from it.

The Eras Tour has significantly increased Taylor's fanbase and reminded everyone what a great artist she is. It has set the scene for a significant large listening base for the TTPD rollout.

However, TTPD reception suffered greatly from it because the music is different to what was in The Eras Tour which was basically 80% greatest hits/radio-friendly bops across her tapestry. People were tuning into the album expecting some massive hits like Cruel Summer, Shake It Off, 22 etc. that never came. At least during the tour the slower tempo sounds during Folklore and Evermore set was spaced out by these hits so during the 1st listen people were expecting an upbeat song to come soon which was not until they reached 'Florida'. There was no appreciation for the art that TTPD is because of the expectation that was set by The Eras Tour, hence the perception that all the songs "sound the same".

This is excluding from the valid criticism from fans and critics that Taylor needs to stop working with Jack for a bit.
