Woman asked me for Uber ride to shelter?
Give how many times I've seen women waiting in Target asking you to buy them three containers of premium formula for their sister's baby, I guess I'm a little jaded. To the point where I don't know what to think anymore.
Yesterday, I was downtown around 5:35 walking down the sidewalk trying to link up with my husband who drove separately and our friend group. I was in a rush as we were running behind, but a woman stopped me and asked me if I could get her an Uber ride to the shelter. I said that I was sorry, but that I really needed to go. She begged and said she could get me cash for it. But I said no once more, before walking away.
It's worth noting that the city has a free trolly system that runs daily, and we were only around two miles from the homeless shelter at the time -- now that I've had a chance to look it up.
I'm fairly certain this is a scam, but I'm looking for confirmation. Any insights would be great. I'm a naturally compassionate person, so I keep questioning the validity of the request. Thanks!
