How I got my FULL refund back from Coursiv

Background: I signed up for Coursiv’s influencer program, expecting a $31, 12-month influencer plan as advertised on Instagram. However, after accessing the app, I realized it only offered a 30-day challenge, which was a clear case of false advertising. Feeling deceived, I immediately requested a refund.

Initial Communication: I emailed Coursiv to express my dissatisfaction and requested an immediate refund, highlighting the discrepancy and false advertising. I also mentioned that I would contact my lawyer and dispute the charge with my bank if necessary.

Here’s the initial email I sent:

Dear Coursiv Customer Support Team,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the services provided by your company. Upon signing up for the influencer program, I was led to believe that I would receive a 12-month plan. However, upon accessing the app, I only see a 30-day challenge. This discrepancy constitutes false advertising, and I am requesting an immediate refund.

The content on your app teaches people how to effectively market their business, yet you have failed to uphold these principles in your own marketing practices. I consider this to be a scammy business practice, and I am therefore requesting a refund. If I do not receive a refund promptly, I will be forced to dispute the charge with my bank and consult with my lawyer.

Their Response: Coursiv initially offered a 50% refund, which I declined. They then increased the offer to 75%, but I insisted on a full refund. In my follow-up email, I reiterated my demand and mentioned that I had initiated a consultation with my lawyer and would file complaints with the FTC and BBB if a full refund was not provided.

Dear Coursiv Customer Support Team,

Thank you for your prompt response.

While I acknowledge your offer of a 75% refund, I must reiterate my initial concerns and the urgency of this matter. Upon signing up for the influencer program, I was explicitly promised a 12-month plan, yet the app only provides access to a 30-day challenge. This blatant false advertising is unacceptable and constitutes deceptive business practices.

Given these circumstances, a full refund is the only acceptable resolution. Your partial refund offer does not address the gravity of the issue. I demand a full refund of my last payment within the next 5 business days.

Please be advised that I have already initiated a consultation with my lawyer and will dispute the charge immediately with my bank if a 100% refund is not provided. Additionally, I am prepared to file formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

I trust you will resolve this matter swiftly to avoid further escalation.

Resolution: Shortly after sending this email, I received confirmation from Coursiv that they would process a full refund, which I should see in my account within 5 business days.

After the last revision of your case, we’ve processed a full refund of your payment, and you should expect to see the amount credited to your account in about 5 business days. If the refund is not received in this period, please contact your bank for further information.
