Some questions about modern US SWAT in real life.

I'm quite curious about how SWAT in the US (or more specifically, LA?) do their job, but I don't have much info on this.

• Do they equip standard-issue equipments (uniforms, weapons, rounds, plate carrier, etc.) or they can use their own?
• Do they utilize SMGs? If so, under what circumstances?
• Do officers taze suspects with firearms in hands?
