I feel like companies don't care about people at all

I've noticed that when dealing with large companies don't care about people, those who for them or those they service.

I was recently informed by my electricity provider that my supplier was charging more then the state average for kWh and I should review suppliers. I could switch supplier's at will since I was not in a contract, but I decided to give my current supplier a call.

I spoke to customer service and told them about the letter from the provider and the response was that this was lowest rate they offer in my area. I said that my state providers is telling me that this is to high and I should change providers. The reply was "We have to hedge our bets".

The thing is that when I was searching for a new provider just after the call I found a lower rate from the same provider. Still high, but lower then what I was paying. So was there just no attempt at customers retention?

I have noticed the same thing in the medical industry. I'm surround by "big business" medical group networks and they are for the most my only option (Premier, Kettering, ProHealth, etc) and feel like they hate all of their patients. Receptionist that are clearly upset when you call, Doctors who are watching the clock to not go over the 15 min on the follow up appointments, and long waits.

I know everyone has bad days. I don't feel like people are intentionally treating people bad. I fell like these larger companies care so little about their employees and treat them so poorly that they feel they have to treat the customer bad.

I can believe that the customer service person was recently reprimanded for giving a client a lower rate. That the receptionist is working to many phones without assistance because it's hard to staff. The doctor was overbooked and needed to keep it 15 min or less to see everybody.

I feel like we work for companies that hate us and break us just to give money to companies who hate us and break us.
