They need to institute an event grace period
I get the events have a hard stop, and that they need to have a stop somewhere, but the date has changed forced screen has now twice in my friend group meant that somebody permanently didn't get something that they just won.
One of my friends during the Blastoise event, her timers turned over at 10: 50p, so she got one more timer refreshed right before the event ended at 11:00 p.m. our time. She finished the battle at 10: 58p, clicked quickly through all of the screens to try and get her promo card, and at 10: 59p was forced with this screen to go back to the beginning screen. She figured since she clicked through all of the winning screens that she would just get her promo card in her gift menu, and wasn't that worried about it.bShe did not get the final promo in her gifts when she reentered, it was as if she never played that last game at all. So she just lost out on her last promo card.
Last night, my best friend finally got the card that they needed to finish the deck they needed to be competitive in this round. They pulled the card around 9:00 p.m., and we played several rounds up until 11:00 p.m. They had a couple good short runs but kept running into players in their 40s on their second matchup even though they are still in their 20s, so kept losing around two. At 10:50p, they have their two wins, and played a long battle against a well-matched deck but pulled it out at 11: 02p - and even though this is a very luck based game, they really did deserve the win with great maneuvering and well timed supporters that backed them out of a few corners. The game did not make them restart, and let them go through the entire winning sequence, but as soon as it got to the screen where they should have been awarded the medal, they got this screen and it kicked them out. They did not receive any medals from the event because of this kick out. Again, it counted the win on their game counter, but it was as if they didn't play it at all.
I understand there has to be a cut off somewhere, but with potential 20 minute games, there should be some kind of grace period for people who started their last game before the day switch. They almost have it halfway there, because you can get it to acknowledge your win and to go through all the way to the thanks menu, but when you actually get the reward screen, it kicks you back out. At the end of the day, it is a digital card game, but it is disappointing for these players that grind till the end and really care about the outcome, only to get it taken on a technicality. I get that there should be a hard cut off, but I feel like if they let you start a game within the 20 minutes of the deadline, and you play just a little bit over, they should add a buffer to allow the people who went just a bit over to still get what they worked towards.
