Kiddo Got Fished on Oculus...HELP
Hi Reddit community...My son was fished while playing on his Oculus. The schemers started off offering him shiny rocks (Gorilla Tag) if he entered a private game. Once there they called him the N word (with a hard r...his words) and threatened to kill his parents if he didn't change the user email on our account to the one they told him to. This all went down in a matter of minutes and I was less than five feet away from him so it's amazing how easy it is to do this to a scared kid (aged 10).
This happened 6 weeks ago. Both our Oculus headsets no longer work as they are linked to the thieves' email address still. They also used my credit card but I was able to shut that down fairly quickly. Oculus has passed me around to every tech to "fix the problem" but there has been no resolution. Along with the two Oculuses we've spent around $1,300 on games and in app purchases over the past two years and have access to nothing (games don't show up in my Meta account either).
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to fix the problem?
I'd give up on the whole thing EXCEPT that my son is autistic and the Oculus actually really helped him socially. He speaks completely differently while gaming with vetted friends than he does IRL. So I'd like to fix this for him.
