Writing age like 20↑ instead of 20歳/20才 ?

My friend asked me about this earlier this morning, and after going through my twitter, I also see a lot of JP accounts, most of them artists, doing the same thing.

Is there any particular reason why they use the arrow? We thought that maybe it's a homonym or a pun, but we're stumped.
