This is getting extremely annoying (picture related)
This is a rant based on my experience and what I saw, the stans I'll be mentioning doesn't represent everyone and I know some of you are different. If you had a similar experience or saw something similar, feel free to share.
I've been in the KNY fandom for 6 years and the experience was mixed... I did met wonderful people in other social media but there are fans who makes the experience insufferable. I can't fully enjoy consuming content of my favorite character (Zenitsu) in the tags (mostly on twitter or tumblr) without having someone making their hate boner towards the character their entire personality (whether or not the post is related to Zenitsu or not) while they glaze their fav or shame people for liking him (it's always Inosuke fans or Obanai fans) or reblog post about how their fav is so much better than the character they dislike (it's again, always Inosuke fans doing this). And to make things worse, they posted it in the tags so the fans can see this too. They either overglaze both of them while demonizing him to a disgusting degree or dismiss his whole character as a whole. They're also the most frequent fans I see them shaming or mocking people for liking Zenitsu, some of them even made fun of me for prefering Zenitsu over both of them, which made me dislike the character (Obanai, who I used to love) and despise the character even more (Inosuke, who I disliked since the start).
And it's not only with Zenitsu, Mitsuri also suffers from this by Shinobu fans I saw in other social media. Those toxic fans will either slander, ridiculize or dismiss her character and contributions while over glazing Shinobu to unbearable levels (either writting wise or performance wise) and even slut shame her which is so fucking weird and disgusting. You can argue about her being a wasted potential or not like her but there's no need to go as far as being a creep when it comes to slander her.
Kaigaku too, some fellow Zenitsu stans and (to a lesser extent) Gyomei stans act like it's a crime to like him and will even judge you for liking him. I remember someone even telling a Kaigaku fan to kill themselves and not feel bad about it. And Douma is probably the biggest victim of this, right behind Zenitsu. I saw too many Akaza fans acting like it's a blashpemy to like him because he killed Kanae, Shinobu and Kotohawhile totally ignoring that their own fav isn't any better for killing Kyojuro and killed countless of innocent people.
And the list goes on... Sanemi fans vs Genya fans who hate Sanemi, Tengen fans vs Mitsuri fans (it's mostly on powerscalling), etc... While it's understandable for people to not like a character, however, coming under someone's post saying how you hate the character while knowing this person likes the character (it makes you annoying as hell) at best or shaming people for liking a character over the popular one and demonize their whole character at worst. In the end, doing this just give people a justifiable reason to hate the character they're glazing and honestly, disliking a character because of their obnoxious fanbase should be normalized because dear heaven, most of those stans just make the experience unbearable.
