Poverty Marketing
I saw a post a few weeks ago of someone noticing how people talk about how devs always mention hard they work, almost as if everyone else doesn’t. I dismissed it and moved on and I’d like to apologise because I get it.
I get it, we all need to market our game and we need to take whatever we can get. However, it feels weird whenever I see a dev hype up their personal situation more than the game, it makes it feel like a GoFundMe almost? I personally always look at those games but then tend to avoid buying it because the focus on their personal situation in marketing makes me wonder if it’s actually a good game on its own merit.
Anyway, that’s my micro rant. Gotta do what you gotta do for the sales and engagement.
