Estate agents lied to our sellers that we’ve pulled out of our offer and put the house back on the market

We put in an offer on a property 4 months ago which was accepted by the seller. The conditions of the offer were that the property be removed from the market and there would be no more viewings on the property. We’ve been in the process of buying their property but our sellers still after 4 months have not found a property themselves so we cannot complete.

We’ve recently heard that our buyers are asking for a completion date and are getting impatient. As such we chased the estate agents on the status of our sellers and made them aware if there is no progress soon we may have to look at alternatives properties to not lose our buyers.

Today we received a right move notification that the house we’re buying has been put back on the market. Our sellers have a public Instagram for the house and I saw them post saying that their buyers (us) ‘have pulled out their offer’.

We then received an email from the estate agent saying the sellers have asked to remarket their property so that they can line up another buyer should we find somewhere else. This conflicts with the seller saying we have ‘pulled our offer’ which we most definitely have not!

I’m guess I’m just trying to get an opinion on how we should address the situation. I love the property but this has rubbed me the wrong way and put me off a bit. I’ve also waited 4 months waiting, which feels like wasted time just for them to look for an alternative buyer!
