Alcohol flush

Can anyone help me understand why sometimes (only sometimes) I get a facial (and sometimes neck, and sometimes joints like knuckles) flush when I drink alcohol?

I'm a 44 yr old fit and healthy caucasian female. And this has been happening since I was 19.

There's no particular type of alcohol that causes it. It can be anything. My face goes very red and very hot. Sometimes if it's really bad it goes to my knuckles and knees.

I had a DNA test done a few years back and have AA result for Allele on the ADH1C gene. There's also two small dots under the column for 'effect' I've tried to attach a screen shot but Reddit isn't letting me :/

Could this be related? I'm not a heavy drinker. Maybe one or 2 a week max, and maybe the odd night where I get tipsy (once every 6 weeks)

There's a possibility it happens more if I'm a bit stressed or worried about something.

It normally passes after one drink and doesn't happen again in the same night.

I've heard that flushing with alcohol can mean you're more susceptible to certain types of cancer which worries me.
