Is it possible to connect AirPods Pro Max to Playstation portal via wired?

I've read mixed messages, some say it works, some say it doesn't, some say it only works with the official Apple 3.5mm to Lightning cable.

Anyone got AirPods Pro Max working with their Playstation Portal?
