AITA for sharing that my boss has tattoos?
This is quite weird
I work for a big company with multiple sites. It has been quite decentralised and site managers left to manage their own sites with no interference.
Our site has not moved with the times. The manager had been there forever, nobody ever left so no new ideas, people got promoted who had been there the longest and whose face fit (me included), there was a bad ‘us and them’ atmosphere and it was an old boys network. Anyone who tried to change anything gave up or left because it was so hard. I did get promoted but I wanted the change. I just couldn’t see how to do it. I was friendly with the site manager when he was there, he was ok just not that good any more.
Then there was a big customer audit and we did badly. It rang alarm bells in the central organisation and suddenly they got involved.
The old manager left (says he decided to retire) and we got a new manager from outside. He has a university degree, experience from a few other industries, comes across very professionally and has started changing things. Obviously a lot of people don’t like it and therefore don’t like him. The ‘old guard’ were very close to old manager and are determined to dislike him, even though he’s now their boss.
He’s actually ok though. People who’ve given him a chance and talked to him have warmed to him.
I saw him in the gym near me recently in gym gear and I saw he has an upper arm sleeve. Normally he wears long sleeved shirts for work. No biggie (I have them) but it surprised me because of how posh and professional he comes across. I sort of assumed he’d look down on ink bot obviously not.
This where I might be TA.
My old manager called me to see how I was and asked how things were going and what the new boss was like. I was a bit cagey but ended up telling him about the tattoo. I don’t even know why. Now all the old guard know as well and are making comments to each other behind his back about him not being who he said he was and being slippery. It’s so weird and not sure what they think they’re achieving but it seems to be an attempt to undermine him. I don’t see how it can but even so
He now knows about it and must know it’s come from me. He’s not said anything but has been a bit more distant as if I’ve betrayed a confidence. I didn’t really think it was a big deal and can’t think it will make any difference but AITA?
